Removal and reinstall

New roof? We'll take the panels off and put them back.

Re-roofing, repairing storm damage or fixing a leak? We disconnect and remove your panels, store them, work with your roofer, then reinstall them with new flashings and sealant and make sure it's producing again.

Why a licensed solar team

Taking solar off a roof is electrical work.

Removing solar panels means disconnecting live DC wiring (the wiring between your panels and the inverter), rapid-shutdown devices (safety switches that turn the panels off fast for firefighters) and the inverter (the box that turns your panels' power into power your home can use), then putting it all back and recommissioning it (the final start-up and test). We're licensed Nevada electrical contractors, so that work is done by people licensed to do it.

  • We talk to your roofer directly, so you're not the go-between
  • Panels and rails labeled and stored while the roof work is done
  • New flashings and sealant on every reinstall
  • System commissioned and production checked when we're done

How it works

Timed around your roofer.

  1. Site visit and quote

We count panels, plan the roof work with you and give you a written quote.

  2. Remove and store

We shut the system down, label everything, remove the panels and rails and store them safely.

  3. Roof work

Your roofer works on a clear roof. We plan the dates with them.

  4. Reinstall and test

We remount with new flashings and sealant, rewire, commission and confirm it's producing, with photos.

Questions

Removal and reinstall questions

Do I need new flashings on reinstall?

Yes. We always install new flashings and sealant when we put your panels back. Reusing old hardware is a common cause of leaks.

How long can my panels be off the roof?

As long as your roof work takes. We plan the dates with your roofer and come back when they're done.

Will you work with my roofer?

Yes. We talk to your roofer directly so you don't have to relay messages.

What does removal and reinstall cost?

It depends on how many panels you have and your roof. We quote the price upfront, in writing, before any work starts. No hidden fees.
